Friday 10/31/08

Hey! Another week is about over and I'm really glad. Wally had surgery on his hand yesterday and he is doing fine, just driving me nuts!!! His little finger was bent down really bad and he could not straighten it out so he decided to get it fixed. We will find out Tuesday whether or not they fixed it where he can bend it. It was bothering his golf, he thinks now that his little finger will be straight that he will hit his driver 400 yards straight as an arrow!!! WOW!!! This guy has a problem!!! I just love him any way.

Daddy really hasn't been feeling very good at all, just no wind or strength. He did go to church Sunday in Cotton Plant with Aunt Gladys and to pay his birthday money. He decided yesterday that he would go to Searcy to ballgame and then go spend the night with Teddy and family in Vilonia. He called this morning and they are planning on going to ballgame tonight in Vilonia and then to Heber Springs Saturday morning to watch Hayden play football. I hope he will be able to enjoy himself. I'm sure he will come home exhausted and ready to rest for a few days, which is fine. Wally keeps reminding me that he is 90 years old, he is doing fine. It is just hard to see him not being as active as he use to be. Send a few prayers up for him!!

Have a good weekend and Happy Halloween!!!

Friday 10-24-08

Daddy went to Doctor yesterday (Thursday), Trish took him or he took Trish with him!!! :-) The doctor said that he was doing fine and that it was just going to take a little time to get his strength back and that he was 90 Years Old!!! His blood was too thin so we are going to change dosage of meds again, but the pace maker is working like it should be. His shortness of breath wasn't a concern to them, chest sounded ok. The blockage in his neck is still being put on back burner until later or until it causes more problems than he has now. So he came back home and seems to be satisfied with what the doctor told him. He is planning on going to ballgame tonight, somewhere!!! He gave me my orders!! Find his coveralls and put them in his truck in case he gets cold!!! :-) DONE!!!

Have a good weekend. Art says I should keep my letters short and sweet, hope this is short enough Art!! :-)

Halloween picture of the Witch from Arizona!!! :-) Art said they were bored so she dressed up for Halloween early!!!

Also, Adam turned 30, AND he and Stephanie are expected a Baby Boo in December!! :-)

90th BIRTHDAY

We started celebrating Daddy's 90th Birthday on Saturday. Mike and Laury (Quinn's from LA) came in that afternoon, Trish and Tonya came over and we had a great visit. Sunday was a lazy day, watched ballgames all day. He had gotten lots of cards and phone calls during the weekend.

Monday - October 13th - Birthday!! He was up bright and early and was off to make his rounds. He came back with lots of cards, lots of prizes, and his behind dragging!!! Ha!! I think he just about over did but he had a great day visiting with all his friends and family. Thanks to all who called and sent cards, prizes, and those that wished him Happy Birthday.

Wednesday 10/8/08

My gosh, is it Wednesday already??? The days are running into each other. I think Daddy had over done a little Friday so he decided he would just stay home over the weekend and rest. He and I had a really lazy day Saturday, watched ballgames all day. We are now into the baseball and football, he has learned to hold on to the remote, because when Wally and I get it then we get to adjust the volumn and controls!!! :-) A little power play going!!! Sunday was pretty much the same. He got up to go to church at Cotton Plant but decided to go back to bed after breakfast, he said he was just tired, he thought he needed to rest. Wally was getting all his gear ready to head out for Harrison to the HS Golf State Tourney. He left around 11:00. I lounged most of the day myself. I did get Daddy's truck washed though, it was getting pretty bad. But I got it all cleaned up for him to start out on Monday. Wally called around 10 pm and they had made it to Harrison in one piece. He made the boys walk the course and check out yardages. He was so excited, he probably didn't sleep a wink. I had been giving him sleep aid all week because he couldn't sleep. He is so hyper!!!

Monday Daddy went to Stuttgart to get shots in his knee and back. Trish met him in Stuttgart. Billy had his knee surgery Monday morning, he was in recovery when Daddy got there. Daddy got his shots and visited a little with Trish and then he was gone. Trish took Billy home and he will be recooping this week at home. All went well. Daddy made a circle around to Des Arc to take Tony out for lunch and to check on the old brown S10, it has died again on Tony. Daddy has decided that it wasn't worth getting fixed again so we have a truck for sale - ANY TAKERS!!! He was pretty tired when he got home, but had made it fine.

Tuesday morning he was up bright and early headed for Searcy to get his blood checked. I have tried to explain to him that we could get it checked in Forrest City, BUT, he insists on driving to Searcy, of course he took his usual tour!!! Des Arc, Searcy, McCrory, Cotton Plant, and back to Brinkley, Wheatley, and then home. I got tickled at him, he said that he had missed going by to seeing Aunt Pearl, he will have to go another day this week!! Bless his heart, he is still trying to take care of everyone!! I think I had made a mistake on the blood level thing earlier. They want his blood to be around 2.5, his last week was 3.2 (too thin) so they changed his dosage of meds, and now this week it was 1.9 (too thick), but changed his dosage again and he said he was feeling much better, he knew that he should have been taking his meds the way he always did!!! I have had a time with him about the meds, he doesn't like for me to tell him that he has to change because the doctor says too!!! Although, he probably was right, but I apologized and told him I was just going by what the doctor said!!! Wally made it home around 11:30 PM, give completely out but had to tell me all about what each boy shot and who won what and so on!!! I finally told him I was sorry but I had already had my Tylenol PM and it would have to wait until morning!!! :-) His team came in 4th place out of 12 teams. He was pleased, he was afraid they wouldn't do as well as they did. Harrison's team won, of course. Wally blamed it on the pin placements and how hard they had made the course for the tournament, he was sure that the Harrison team had been playing those pin placements all week, then they changed them for the practice round and changed them back for the tourney, this is the way his brain works!! Anyway, golf season is over!! Yeah!!! :-)

Forgot this, Daddy also went to a visitation in Marianna last night, some of the horse show family passed away. Tony and Ethan were going so he met them down their.

So this brings me up to date!! This is Wednesday and Daddy is going to rest until around 4:00 and he thinks he might just go play cards and eat with the Langley guys in McCrory or wherever he goes!!!! :-) That is very good though, I just want him to be able to go and enjoy being with his friends and family. He also asked me if I thought I would be going to Haley's game Thursday night in Brinkley to watch her cheer!!! I told him I would have to wait until Thursday afternoon before I decided.

Thanks again to all the friends and family and for the prayers.

Daddy's Doctors Visit

Daddy got a good report from the doctor yesterday. His blood was still a little thick, changed meds again, trying to get his blood to 2.5, it was 3.2 yesterday. But nothing to be alarmed about. It will take awhile to get it regulated again. Blood pressure was up a little. His heart rate was 70, and that is where they want it to be. They took the dressing off of his incision, he said it looked better than he thought it would. Trish has all this stuff written down, I hope I got it right over the phone!!

Daddy and Trish went to Vilonia after visit to doctor, they visited with Teddy and family. Then they went to Mayflower to watch Brinkley Jr High game, and to see Haley cheer!!! He said they got home around 9:00, that he made it fine, just tired. He spent the night with Trish.

Daddy called around 7:30 this morning, he was getting ready to go to Brinkley for breakfast and then on to Cotton Plant to check on Katherine (Cockran) and to see Aunt Gladys, Billy Clyde, and by Stewmons. He didn't know yet whether he was going to stay for ballgame at Brinkley tonight, Homecoming. He said he would call me later and tell me when he would be home.

Sounds like he is on the road to being back to where he was. Thanks again to all his family and friends for the prayers.

STIFFANY CAME TO VISIT

Tiffany (great niece), better known as Stiffany to Daddy, came by to visit with us yesterday afternoon. Sure did enjoy our visit. She caught us up on her 4th grade class that she teaches. She loves her kids and is a super duper teacher. Scooter was jealous!!
When I got home from work yesterday I noticed that his truck had been moved, he tried to park it back exactly like it was!!! :-) I asked him where he had been, he looked that funny look and grinned. He had gone down to the farmers market in town and bought him, Trish, Tonya, and Aunt Pearl some tomatoes. (And yes, he was running around town in his PJ's again.) That guy, what are we going to do with him. I went out to eat with a group from work and didn't go home at lunch so I guess he thought he would just take a little venture!! He said he wanted some tomatoes and he wanted to see if he could drive. He made it fine, don't worry about him!!!
He was up bright and early this morning. He is going to Biscoe, and he and Trish are going to Searcy to doctor. He also wanted me to pack his bag, he thinks maybe Trish will take him to the Jr High Football game at Mayflower for a while to watch Haley cheer, since they will be close!!! He may just spend the night with her and come back to Brinkley Homecoming tomorrow night if he feels like it. So, I guess you can say he is on the mend and is tired of being house bound!! Pray for us!! Thank goodness we have lots of family and friends, it will take all of us to keep up with him.
